A Great day out - Busch Gardens
Florida Guide > Other Parks
Located around 1 hour from Orlando, Busch Gardens is a must for all Rollercoaster mad individuals. Being a little distance from Orlando, the park tends to be a lot quieter than Universal and Disney parks. This is only good news if you want to get your moneys worth on the attractions.
One thing that stands Busch Gardens out from the rest is there is something for everyone. Young or old you will be able to find something to keep you occupied. Entrance to Busch Gardens is normally part of the Seaworld package and can be a lot cheaper when buying entry to both parks. We saved around $20 per person by buying the parks together, although depending on the time of Year will depend the package that is being offered. Some times during the Year they have a buy 1 get 1 free day.
Being a Rollercoaster fan one of my favourite rides has to be SHEIKRA. This ride is the newest in the park and one of the best in Florida. Looking at the ride from the walkway you get the true scale of the 90 degree vertical drop. Not being content to drop 90 degrees once, you actually do it twice! When we went in Nov we managed to go on this ride 6 times throughout the day. Even though the queue was 20 minutes, it still moved really quickly.
Another of the favourite rides is KUMBA. This ride reaches 60mph and has one of the largest set of loops in the whole of Florida. KUMBA is actually one of the parks older rides, but is still up there with some of Florida’s newer ones.
For those that have young children there are plenty of shows to watch and the trip across the savannah on Rhino rally is very good. Here you see Lions, Tigers, Hippos, Giraffes and monkeys. There is also a large bird sanctuary for those who want to see almost every type of bird in the World.
One of the families favourite rides is the CONGO RIVER RAPIDS. On this ride you sit in a large ring (10 people per ride) and make your way down the river rapids. Along the way you might get a little wet, but it is the people that use the soakers from the bank that get their moneys worth, paying to soak their victims in the ring.
If you want to take a bite to eat the good news is the food is good and reasonable value for money. Unlike Disney there were a few more choices on offer and the cost was not as expensive.
For a good value day out Busch Gardens is certainly one of the must see parks. Get your ticket with Seaworld and you might even save a little money in the process. Overall a great park for the whole family.
