Legoland....a preview.

Florida Guide > Other Parks

We have been hearing for so long about the opening of a new Legoland in Florida that I am somewhat surpised to tell you that it will be opening next year.

This new Theme Park is being built in Winter Haven on the site of the defunct Cypress Gardens.

This park is going to be divided into several different areas that honour it' s host Country and these will be:

LAS VEGAS: with all it' s razmatazz including The M. G. M. Grand and The Stratosphere Tower.

WASHINGTON D. C. has The Smithsonian and of course The White House.

FLORIDA: takes in the nearby Bok Tower and The Daytona Race Track.

NEW YORK: embraces The Statue of Liberty, The Bronx Zoo and Grand Central Station.

After you have oooed and aaahed at all the Lego wizadry my bet is that the children will be clamouring for a roller coaster ride.

LOST KINGDOM ADVENTURE is a ride in the dark and Coastersauraus is a rather more gentle coaster. FLIGHT SCHOOL is a roller coaster that feels like flying and BEETLE BOUNCE is not a roller coaster but a launch ride that flings you 15 feet in the air. Finally for all you thrill seekers is KID POWER TOWER which takes you up high enough to get a gret view of the park and then lets you free fall.

FUN TIME ACADEMY promises to have you all racing to put a virtual fire out and BIG TEST is an interactive show that has an underlying message about fire safety.

Other attractions have you building a competitive race car or a robot and there is also a game playing area.

The highlight of the day for my son was always THE DRIVING ACADEMY and I am pleased to say they have one here. You have to be between the ages of 6 and 13 to drive a car and you come away with a ' driving licence'

Small children have not been left out and can enjoy their very own area in THE DUPLO VILLAGE. Here they can drive a car or even fly a plane.

Before you go home I am sure the children will drag you into THE BIG SHOP which is one of the largest Lego shops in the world.

They are promising authentic freshly baked Danish Pastries at this park and I cannot wait to try one of those (I always find the Walmart/ Publix versions rather disappointing)

The park is scheduled to open in october and there will be reduced price tickets til 2012. If you were looking for an excuse to re visit Florida I guess you now have one.
