An Evening visit to the Flower and Garden Festival

Florida Guide > Epcot

We love visiting Epcot and although we only had a few hours to spare on the last night of our holiday we decided to spend those hours visiting their Flower and Garden Festival which we had not managed to go to on that particular holiday.

For me the excitement of an Epcot visit begins as soon as I see Spaceship Earth before we even enter the park. During the festival there was a brilliant topiary of Mickey Mouse at the entrance greeting all the visitors. On this visit he was also joined by sculptures of Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger. Close by we came upon Mickey and Minnie sculptures sitting in a bed of flowers and welcoming the visitors with a cheery wave. There was also a lovely Winnie the Pooh story book made out of flowers and greenery

Just before we crossed the bridge on this hot evening the girls stopped to cool down by dashing in and out of the water fountains. Barrels of flowers were floating on the water and under the bridge turtles and fish could be seen.

We then came upon a large Lightening McQueen sculpture which made us marvel at the work involved to create such items.

We intended to end our visit with a meal in the England section at the Rose and Crown so before we went directly there to book our table for later in the evening. On this occasion we were lucky to get a table as they had a cancellation but it really is best to plan ahead and book in advance.

We then continued our stroll passing a fantastic Captain Hook and a dancing Cinderella and her Prince. As it got dark the exhibits were illuminated and we stopped to look at the Epcot Castle which was set in a garden.

Nearby a Tangled story book was made up in Flowers similar to the Winnie the Pooh one. We then came to the dancing Seven Dwarfs who were joined by Snow White.

There were several new stalls with merchandise for sale including one fabulous bonsai tree stall, I only wished I could have taken one home with me.
The final section we had time to visit before it was time for our table booking at the Rose and Crown was called “Lion King Diamond Edition” where we were treated to sculptures of Pumbaa, Timon and Rafiki.

Once at the Rose and Crown we opted for Fish and Chips or Cottage Pie which was a sign we been away from home for some time!

If you do get chance do go and see the Epcot Flower and Garden Festival if it is on whilst you are in Orlando it really is worth a visit.
