Magic Kingdom - Fantasyland

Florida Guide > Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom, Walt Disneyworld is the most famous and the most popular of all the parks. It is split up into five different sections, Fantasy Land, Adventure Land, Future Land, Frontier Land and Toon Town which is due to be updated very soon. Disney is doing a billion dollar makeover, one section at a time, of all the parks and will take a couple of years to complete.

Fantasy Land is the young ones favourite. As you approach the entry gates you will see Cinderella’s Castle looming up at the end of Main Street. This is the street that most children want to charge up at a rate of knots to get to see the castle. Some however just stand with their mouths open looking all around them in awe. As you approach the castle, depending on what time you enter the park, you may see the characters performing a show on the steps of the castle. This happens in the morning and in the afternoon at certain times of the day.

Once round the castle you will be in Fantasy Land. Here you will be greeted by an enormous carousel of white horses and along side this, Dumbo the flying elephant ride. These two are firm favourites with the little ones. Also here is “It’s a Small World” the most charming ride of them all – even for grown ups. Here dolls of all nations, dressed in their national dress sing and dance for you while you cruise around in a boat watching them and yes, eventually you will find yourself singing along!

In this area you will find Mickey’s Fantasia. This is a 3d show featuring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck conducting their orchestra to the music and characters of Fantasia. Great fun for all ages.

Next there is Snow Whites Adventure in the Enchanted Forest. This ride though is more about the wicked Queen than Snow White, so do be warned, the very young may be frightened. Likewise, Winnie The Pooh’s ride also takes place in the forest where he meets the wicked weasels, so too is a bit scary.

Another great ride for the little ones, is the Teapot ride, a testament to Alice in Wonderland. Mind you, if you don’t like spinning around very fast, give it a miss and leave it to the children who have much stronger stomachs than some of us grown ups.

In this area there is a “Meet and greet” area for the characters. Here, children patiently wait in line to get their autograph books signed by the Disney Characters.
