Preparing to pack on a rainy Afternoon

A great way to spend a rainy afternoon in the sunshine state.
If like me you usually leave your packing to the last day, I found on a recent trip where we had a rainy afternoon my time would be best spent removing all those labels from the garments I had recently purchased for my family and friends. Most of the family clothing was for my grandchildren, I find a vast selection of clothing for boys in Florida. The girl`s clothing is also very nice and I got some really cute things for my granddaughter. I love the little nine west boots and cant wait to see her wearing them, oh and the cup cake pyjamas, they feel lovely and warm, and should be perfect for our UK winter.
The removal of the tags took me quite some time, once I had done this I was able to see what I had bought and it gave me the opportunity to update my list of things to buy. I made a pile for each family member then separate piles for friends. I soon realised I had bought quite a lot of stuff, I then started to wonder how am I going to get all this in my suitcases, I had pre purchased extra luggage allowance with Virgin Atlantic for my return flight, before leaving the UK. I also wanted to take home a comforter set I had bought on a previous trip earlier this year. I soon realised to purchase additional luggage again was going to work out quite expensive, but I thought it would be more economical than me buying a set of similar quality back home in the UK.
On the day of my departure a good friend tried to pack the comforter plus another one into a space bag, she then tried to fit it into one of my suitcases, after all her hard work and sweat, we decided it was not going to happen. I quickly went on line and purchased more additional luggage, which would allow me to check in my 3 pieces of luggage. What I found good with Virgin Atlantic, even after you have checked in on line, you can still retrieve your booking and add additional luggage. Last year I travelled with BA and was unable to add additional luggage on line, but could do so at the airport at a slightly higher charge.
I am usually up all night before my departing flight, preparing my packing and panicking if it will all fit. In future I will pack each day when I return from my shopping trips, It will be less to do on the day of departure.
Maybe on any future trips, I will be able to relax and enjoy my last day, knowing the packing has been done.
