What’s so great about Universal Studios?

Previously I have written a number of articles all relating to how wonderful the Disney parks are in Florida and I thought it was about time I wrote a little about the Universal studios theme parks and attractions to balance my articles and also because they too are great place to visit on your stay in Florida.

There are a number of Universal studio parks now just like the different Disney ones but I will start with the original Universal Studios which in my view is still the best and if I’m honest I think I prefer it to all the Disney parks as the rides seem just that little bit more grown up.

As you approach the Universal studios you have to walk through the City walk area now this is a thriving bar and night club area late in the evening but in the day time it’s simply a few nice quality shops and so great eating places such as the NASCAR Café where there are always a number of old NASCAR Cars parked outside for the men in the family to drool over and for the kids to have their pictures taken
Soon you are approaching the bridge over the lagoon and towards the huge gates of the studios and looking towards your left there is the iconic Universal globe soon you are at the gates and entering the studios for your first time.

Depending on your tastes and other the members of your party you can walk straight up the main street and into the area called Production Central which has Despicable Me Mininion Mayhem and Shrek 4D these are great if you have the younger members in your party.

Or you could turn right and head straight to Terminator and the Universal Makeup Up show an area which is more for the grown ups in the party but today we will start with the Production Central area
First there is the Despicable Me Mininion Mayhem which is a funny interactive show based on the hit movie Despicable Me with all the familiar characters from the film, where you have to go through the recruit training and deal with the art villain in his laboratory, this ride is good old family fun for all ages.

Just behind the Despicable me show is the Hollywood rip ride rocket. This is Orlando’s tallest roller coaster and will soon have your adrenaline pumping! The ride, which features many engineering firsts to help achieve some “Never been done before “elements of a roller fantastic roller coaster ride
It’s not for me but it’s a must for all roller coaster fans.
