A Day at the Parks
Florida Guide > Hints and Tips
A day at the Parks can be very exhausting and you need to plan it well to make the most of your time.
I think the first tip is to make sure you get there early. Children on holiday seem to have the capacity that they do not have on school days – they get up early and are very happy!
It is essential to wear comfortable shoes and Mother always packs a few plasters. If you intend going on lots of “wet” rides you may consider packing rain ponchos. We usually buy these at Walmart because they are much cheaper than buying them at the Parks.
We put on sunscreen before we go out but we also take a tube of it to top up during the day, it is so easy to get burnt at the Parks particularly when you are queuing.
We usually rise early and shower and have an all you can eat breakfast at one of the many restaurants on the way to the parks from our villa. These all open at 7. 00am so it is still possible to eat and get to the Parks for opening times.
I particularly love Animal Kingdom at opening time. The weather is lovely and warm and all the characters are at the front to greet you.
By getting to the parks at opening times it allows you to get a Fastpass for a popular ride with usually a short wait time. In fact sometimes the wait is quite short without a Fastpass so you can save this for another ride. At Hollywood Studios we always try for Toy Story Mania and at Universal it is the Simpsons and Harry Potter.
We have Disney Hopper Passes so we can start early and have a long day at the Parks. If one of the adults wants a days shopping or simply a rest they can leave us at the first Park and we can use Disney transportation to go from Park to Park. If they do this they do not need to pay a Car Park fee at the first park they just tell the attendant they are dropping off and they will be guided to the correct location. Similarly when picking up they do the same.
The great advantage of staying in a villa is that most are only 10 - 15 minutes from the Disney Parks so some days we may have an early start then come home early afternoon for a swim or just to relax by the pool and return to the Parks in the early evening.
If you are having a day at a Water Park and you get a sudden downpour early afternoon a lot of visitors leave. If you stay once the rain stops you will have a great time getting on the rides very quickly.
You also have the option to go to a Water Park early morning stay until mid afternoon go home and have an early tea before heading back to another park at night.
Plan your day at the Parks you really will get a lot done.
