A horse riding experience!

Florida Guide > Other Activities

Florida EcoSafaris is located at Forever Florida in St Cloud. It is a cliche to say that here is where you find ' the real Florida' but it is!

A good way to explore the 4700 acres of wilderness here is by horseback and you can.

Your horse will be selected for you based on you ability and size etc and you are expertly guided throughout.

The standard ride lasts for one and a half hours (more about the extended rides later) and you will be led deep into the wilderness that looks as if it has remained unchanged for centuries (it has)

This Horseback Safari costs $60 and takes place every day of the week from morning to early afternoon.

You must wear long trousers and closed toe shoes and be 12 years or older. They can make exceptions for 10 and 11 year olds who can prove their riding experience.

Now, if you have a little more time to spare I have 2 rather more exciting options to offer you.

The first I want to tel you about is The Rawhide Roundup. This has you learning how to round up cattle on The Crescent Ranch. This ranch has a claim to fame and that is that it is one of the few remaining places that still breeds Spanish Colonial Cattle and these go right back to our old friend Ponce de Leon who introduced them to Florida.

The cost of the Rawhide Round Up (am I the only one who wants to holler the theme tune when I hear the name) is $99; there must be 4 of you to sign up to run this event. The round up lasts for a half day.

Still not enough riding for you? No? well sign up for the overnight expedition instead. Here you are led by a cow hunter for 3 miles to a campsite where you will spend the night. There are some (but limited) facilities.

Your fee will cover dinner and breakfast at the campsite and in the morning you ride back to base where lunch will be taken in The Cypress Restaurant.

Again there needs to be 4 participants for the overnight trek to take place.
