Information for Visiting Old Town

Florida Guide > Places to Visit

When you are traveling along the 192 if you pass Old Town you cannot miss it, you will be very aware of the giant Ferris Wheel. You can see the Bunjee Jumping from other roads miles away.

It is like an old fashioned fair and is a combination of shopping, dining and entertainment all close together. There are over sixty stores in Old Town Kissimmee and it is 3 miles from Disney and just a few miles away from Universal Studios and Sea World.

The stores are open every day of the year, from 10:00am-11:00pm. The amusement rides are usually open from 12:00pm-11:00pm but this can change with the season. I believe the bars are open until 2. 00am.

The rides are designed so that the whole family can have fun, there are fourteen in total. Tickets can be purchased either separately at $1 for each ride or you can buy a Valuepak which is 22 tickets for $20. 00 or 35 tickets for $30. 00. However you can also buy an All-You-Can-Ride Wristband Mon. -Sun for $25. It is very good value if you go on a Sunday afternoon as Sunday is Family day from 12 noon to 7 pm and All-You-Can Ride Wristbands are only $15. 00

We love the Ferris Wheel where you can see Orlando from 60 feet up. Their Bunjee Jump is called Human Slingshot! It is a ride powered by giant cables and springs and you catapult 365feet in the air and then will be dropped suddenly. Other favourites of ours include Windstorm Roller Coaster and Wave Swinger. The Go Karts are also good fun for the older ones.

If you have little kids they will love Old Town' s kiddie park area, “Fun Town” where they can ride on painted horses on the Merry-Go-round, Tea cup spin, Frog Hopper or ride on the Wacky Work Kiddie Roller coaster.

You will find Old Town very busy on Friday and Saturday night as this is the place where the car enthusiasts go and there are many of them.

On the Friday Nite Cruise there are the classics such as Mustangs, Corvettes, Monte Carlos and others this starts at 9 pm each week.

On the Saturday Nite Cruise there are over 300 classic cars, hot rods and antiques (they have to be 1974 and older). Cars start arriving about 1. 00pm and the parade starts at 8. 30 pm and lasts about half an hour, it really is quite a sight.

We tend to visit Old Town late afternoon/early evening and by the time we leave the girls are usually getting tired and hungry. As we head back to the villa we usually stop at one of the many all-you-can-eat restaurants on the 192 so that we can eat fairly quickly and get the girls tucked up in bed after another busy day in Orlando.
