Raglan Road Irish Pub and Restaurant
Florida Guide > Dining
If you fancy a meal with a difference and an atmosphere to really enjoy be sure to visit Raglan Road Pub and Restaurant in Pleasure Island at Downtown Disney. We first found it when we visited Cooke' s of Dublin which is a counter service location adjacent to Raglan Road where fish and chips and sandwiches etc are sold.
We visited Raglan Road last year and had a very enjoyable evening. It is owned and operated by an Irish company and features the best of authentic Irish food, drink, heritage and live entertainment. Apparently all the interior furnishings were designed and built by Irish Craftsmen.
The restaurant holds 600 and as you can imagine can get very noisy. There are four antique bars where guests meet and they have a wide selection of cold Irish beers and Irish whiskies.
Traditional and contemporary Irish music, storytelling and dance help create a great atmosphere with friendly Irish pub staff. Irish musicians entertain nightly and guests are encouraged to sing, clap and dance to the lively performances.
When we went they brought soda bread at the beginning of the meal it was earthy and it came with a Guinness reduction for dipping which was lovely.
For an appetizer we shared a dozen battered and fried sausages and whilst my friend and I were talking the girls demolished nearly all the sausages! My Father who was as usual hungry ordered a separate starter of Scallop Forest which was forks of scallops served with a lime dipping sauce.
For their main meal one of the girls had Atlantic Fish. I was not sure what fish this was but it was deep fried and delicious and she chose mashed potato to go with it. The other girl had Crispy Shrimp and Irish Chips which looked gorgeous.
For the main course my Father could not resist ordering “It' s Not Bleedin' Chowder”! This included potatoes, mussels, prawns, scallops and fresh seafood with white wine and cream.
I opted for Paddy' s Pork and was not disappointed. It was pork loin stuffed with homemade sausage meat drizzled with honey soy glaze. This was served with buttered leeks, cabbage and mashed potatoes. I really think it was the best meal I had all holiday.
My friend ordered Portobello Beauty. This was a Portobello mushroom cap burger filled with Dubliner cheese, tomato relish and served with chips and mixed green salad.
Our eldest girl had Chocookberry -, a chocolate and vanilla ice cream with chocolate chip cookies layered in chocolate sauce and sprinkled with raspberries, I shared this with her as the portion was quite large.
The younger one had Strawberry Dream a crumbled meringue, strawberries and cream with vanilla ice cream coated in strawberry coulis which my Father shared with her.
My friend however still had room for a whole dessert and consumed a Dundon' s Delight. This was a Strawberry Pavlova with Vanilla Pod Ice Cream and served on a Strawberry and Champagne Consume.
We really had a good evening but if you do not like noise I think it would be advisable to dine early in the evening. I wish we had a pub like this at home.
