My Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Experience
Florida Guide > Disney Parks
For anyone visiting Orlando in need of an adrenalin rush, you will not be disappointed. Every park contains at least one thrill ride and I was lucky enough to experience one of the most breathtaking and newest rides at Disney Hollywood Studios.
You enter a recording studio and are guided to a pre-show area which screens Aerosmith getting ready for their concert. Their tour manager invites you all to travel with the band in their limo. However, that’s not big enough for everyone, so a super stretch limo is ordered. Then the doors open and riders get their first glimpse of the ride.
Watching in amazement I realised my mistake in joining the queue and began to question whether I should in fact do this, much to my husband’s amusement.
All I could see from my position was the gleaming white Cadillac cars launching off down the track at great speed and disappearing within seconds. The thought of experiencing this high speed coaster terrified me because I could not see the whole ride and didn’t know what to expect. I also knew there were loops in it and having not experienced an inverted coaster before, I didn’t know what to expect.
It was soon our turn and I made absolutely sure I was safely strapped in and gripped to the shoulder restraint in readiness.
We drove round the corner to the waiting area where you are counted down from 3 to 1. This seemed like an eternity. Holding on tight and closing my eyes, No 1 was reached and we hurtled off. Within seconds we whizzed through the first 360º loop which, being in the dark, was difficult to actually realise. Through the speakers of the car Aerosmith tracks were played at great volume. I sang along to release some tension.
As the ride hurtled on, I began to relax a little, open my eyes and enjoy the ride. It was incredibly exhilarating and a lot smoother than expected. I did feel that my head shook about a lot and so pushed it well back into the seat. The music was really loud but added to the whole experience.
As it came to an end I was actually disappointed that it was over. I decided that I had to ride again in order to experience the parts of the ride I had missed previously. A definite 10 out of 10.
