What is a holiday in Orlando, Florida, really like. Well, it is like stepping back into your childhood. Do not try and fight it and tell yourself you are too sophisticated for Walt Disney World, nobody is. Going back to your carefree childhood, is like a tonic and takes all the stresses of life away for just a short while. What could be better than that for your mental well being.
If you really find it hard to find your inner child, how about just being amazed at the technological expertise that is involved in the theme parks. Epcot is a science lesson in itself.
But back to the inner child theme; if you go with the flow and watch and look at every thing for what it is, then you will have the time of your life. Just watching the children’s faces as they spot their favourite character is wonderful. The Magic Kingdom is the best place to go for escapism. The rides are not only for children but for every one with an ability to enjoy the magic of Walt Disney’s imagination. What a wonderful imagination you have to have to invent a ride that travels all around the world and has dolls dressed in native dress singing, “It’s a Small World After All”.
He is also personally responsible for the Carousel of Progress in the Magic Kingdom which is a theatre in which the audience travel round the stages which follow the life of one family set in several different eras: the turn of the century, the twenties, the fifties and the future.
Only someone with his imagination could invent a ride called Journey into Imagination and have a character called Figment at the centre of it. (Figment of your imagination). This ride is in Epcot and is a great favourite with all the small children - and their parents!
For you sophisticated guys, take a look at the technology involved in creating these animatronics. It is really hard to believe they are not real. It is the attention to detail that makes the difference. If you go on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in the Magic Kingdom, take a close look at some of the pirates; they have hairy legs and filthy feet just as you would expect. And the dolls in the It’s a Small World ride, all blink at the right time, but not at the same time.
This is what Disney World is all about, attention to detail and using your imagination to travel back in time to your own childhood, it will do you the world of good. You will come away smiling, I promise you.
