Packing for your holiday!

Florida Guide > Hints and Tips

I want to talk about packing for your vacation. You have got your flights, bought your theme park tickets, booked your villa and finally there are only days to go before you depart.

Now this sounds obvious, but make a list. Think of what you will be doing and the appropriate clothes for that. Do not forget underwear and pajamas. A comfortable pair of clothes or sandals is an absolute must.

You will need sponge bag with all your essentials; think through your bathtime routine and that will prompt what you need. Make up needs to be thought of; nothing worse than getting up on the first morning and your must have cosmetic is missing. This is the time to think about getting any essential prescriptions filled at the chemist and packed.

I like to take my own radio with me so need to think about batteries as well and one travel alarm clock between all of us.

A couple of books each are essential for those relaxing days on your villa deck. I always read a few pages before I go to make sure I am going to enjoy them. Do take some English tea bags; American tea is not to British taste.

Now for your hand luggage. Most important is to print out your itinerary and put a copy into each persons bag. This should include the flight number and times; your villa address and the villa management telephone number, access details and directions from the airport to your home. Oh, and if you have booked a taxi for your journey back home the relevant telephone number for that.

If you are taking lap tops with you then you can slide some extras in the side pockets; a book and a hand held game, for instance. Make sure you weigh your hand luggage.

Insist that each member of your party demonstrate that they have the following documentation; passport, e tickets or tickets for the flight, credit card and proof of your E. S. T. A. s

Remember that your carry on luggage must have all you will need until you get off the flight at the other end.

Now what NOT to take with you. You will probably not need any smart clothes; casual is the order of the day in the theme park area. And do not take too many clothes; you have a laundry in your rental home and you will want to buy some (or lots) of clothes out there. Toiletries are cheap out there as are most of your needs. Pack your case out with bubble wrap and look forward to some serious shopping.

I hope this has helped you get organised with this essential pre trip chore.
