Toddlers at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom

Florida Guide > Magic Kingdom

Many parents worry there will not be much for their toddler to do at the Parks but believe me there are loads they can enjoy. Obviously the Magic Kingdom park is the best park for them but do not discount the others particularly Animal Kingdom.

At Magic Kingdom they can enjoy the majority of the attractions, and there is even a special section here for toddlers called Mickey' s Toon Town Fair. Here you will find Goofy' s Barnstormer Rollercoaster ' a mini coaster, usually suitable for 2 year olds and up. There is also Donald’s boat to crawl over and play on and they can explore Mickey and Minnie' s houses and meet lots of their favourite characters in the Hall Of Fame. When the girls were small we used to get the Walt Disney World Railroad at the entrance and get off at Toon Town.

Other toddler attractions at Magic Kingdom are It' s a Small World (my Mother also loves this), Peter Pan, Adventures Of Pooh, the Carousel, Dumbo, Country Bears Jamboree, Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin, Aladdin' s Flying Carpets, Enchanted Tiki Room, Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, Jungle Cruise, Indy Speedway, Story Time With Belle, Ariel' s Grotto and the Liberty Belle Riverboat as well as the parades, shows and fireworks although the latter may be too noisy for some toddlers.

There are other rides and shows that may or may not be suitable for your toddler you will be the best judge of that. These would include Snow White' s Scary Adventures (not really frightening but some children get scared) Mickey' s Philharmagic which is a lovely show but it is 3D which can frighten children; mind you they don’t have to wear the glasses! Children usually love Pirates of the Caribbean but it is pretty dark so you will have to judge whether it is suitable.

Your little one will be exhausted at the end of a day at Magic Kingdom and it is usual to see lots of children fast asleep in their buggies by late afternoon.

Animal Kingdom Park is often a big hit with toddlers although there are not nearly so many attractions as at the Magic Kingdom, but there are plenty of character meeting opportunities, as well as a fantastic parade and a huge kid’s play area, The Boneyard.

Toddlers will loveTriceratops Spin, Pocahontas and her Forest Friends, Festival of the Lion King, Kilimanjaro Safari, Conservation Station & Affection Section, Flights of Wonder, Maharajah Jungle Trek. Be sure to take them to character meets at Camp Minnie Mickey.

I suggest one of the parents goes to Its Tough to Be a Bug show before deciding whether it is suitable for your toddler. Our youngest girl got frightened here when she was 3; she is now 11 and still refuses to go back!
