Boma, Flavors of Africa Dining Experience

Florida Guide > Dining

Boma, Flavors of Africa is an all you can eat family buffet located at the Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge situated in Walt Disney World.

You do not have to be a guest staying at a Disney Hotel to sample Disney Restaurants, they welcome any visitor with their customary Disney friendliness and are an experience to enjoy.

It is best not to just turn up at the restaurant for a table as it is extremely popular and always busy – ensure you are able to get a table by making a priority reservation by telephoning Disney’s Customer Service department up to 180 days prior to your visit.

The restaurant itself is set out as a bustling African market place, and is full of beautiful colours and wonderful aromas of delicious food being freshly cooked. The kitchens are all open view kitchens and you are able to see the talented chefs and their teams at work, busily preparing your meal and doing what they do best!

A friendly server, who is dressed in African robes, takes you to your table and explains the buffet to you. Our server was a very friendly young lady who couldn’t do enough to make the meal a pleasant experience for us.

The food is laid out on hot and cold counters and as with all buffets you simply help yourselves. There are a few members of the cooking team situated behind the counters to help you with such things as the carved roast meats and who also are very helpful at explaining the dishes to you.

The dishes included a choice of roast meat, some just straight forward roasts and other roasted meat which had been lightly flavoured with aromatic spices; there were freshly grilled fish dishes; several different vegetarian dishes; fresh, crispy salads; their own unique hummus (3 kinds); pasta and many more savoury dishes. There is a very nice dessert display – one to definitely sample is the banana bread pudding, it’s out of this world!

They also have a separate children’s cooking station where they provide dishes for the younger visitor that include the ever popular mac and cheese and chicken strips and fries.

You can visit the buffet bar as many times as you like so it’s best just to try a small bit at a time and then return and replenish your plate.

After you have eaten make sure that you visit the Savannah at the rear of the property (down some steps and through the glass doors) where you can see the wildlife roaming on the 33-acre wildlife reserve.

Boma’s is a wonderful experience with good food in a great atmosphere and is highly recommended for a visit.
