Narcoossees Birthday Meal
Florida Guide > Dining
If you want a really nice meal or have something to celebrate try Narcoossee’s which is behind he Grand Floridian overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon. If you let them know in advance what you are celebrating they will personalize your menus.
Narcoossee’s only opens for Dinner and tables can be booked from 5. 30pm. I really strongly recommend that you make an advance reservation as this restaurant gets very busy.
This is a seafood restaurant and is very popular with everyone even the children enjoy dining here as they watch the boats passing by. There are hardwood floors, an open-air kitchen and an observation deck overlooking the Seven Seas Lagoon.
There is a lovely mural depicting underwater scenery and various marine life on the high walls above the bar area, which is on the upper level of the restaurant. It is very bright here as sunlight pours through the huge skylights in the middle of the restaurant.
The service here is first class from the time you enter the restaurant. The staff are most attentive without popping up every couple of minutes to see if everything is alright. They all seem to have very comprehensive knowledge of the menu including the ingredients that make up the dishes.
The children’s menu is not at all like the usual Disney menus. Instead as an appetizer they can choose from Chicken Soup, Fresh Fruit Cup or Caesar Salad. For a main course as well as the usual Mac ‘n Cheese etc they also have a choice of oven-baked Fish with mashed potatoes and vegetables or Filet Mignon with mashed potatoes and vegetables. Chocolate Brownie Sundae and Nemo Cupcakes are amongst the desserts.
I had been to this restaurant before with my Mother but decided to treat my brother who had never been for his birthday. Before our meal I enjoyed a very good Mojito whilst my brother had one of their special Pomegrante drinks.
My brother started his meal with the Shrimp and Crab Chowder. He said there was plenty of shrimp and crabmeat as well as white potatoes and onions. I thoroughly enjoyed the Pear and Endive Salad which included candied walnuts, blue cheese, and a delicious walnut and sherry vinaigrette.
I ordered the Filet Mignon which was cooked exactly as I had requested and was accompanied by scrumptious gratin style potatoes. My brother had the Surf and Turf but substituted the Lobster Tails for Scallops and judging by the speed he ate it he really enjoyed it!
Although quite full we decided to share a dessert of Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake ($9) which our server had recommended. It was a lovely warm cake with whipped cram and a slice of orange on top. A rich chocolate sauce came out of it as soon as we put our forks into it; it was a really good way to end our meal.
My brother said it was one of the best birthday meals he had had.
