Dinner Shows
Florida Guide > Dining
While you are on holiday in Florida a good way to spend an evening is to experience one of the Dinner shows. There are several to pick from and are located around Orlando. Some are more suitable for children and often get them to interact and join in while others are better for the adults to enjoy and some are great for both.
The first one I want to tell you about and is my favourite is the Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede, a great show for all the family. If you love horses then even better. There is a pre show as well which is very entertaining and you can also visit all the stables to see the magnificent horses. The show it’s self contains spectacular performances with all sorts of animals including a buffalo stampede, pigs, an Ostrich race, wagons and horses and the grand parade at the finale. While you are enjoying the show you are served a 3 course meal which includes a whole spit roast chicken, baked potatoes salad and a sweet. The coke, beer. wine and iced tea flow freely and it is a very enjoyable evening. It you are lucky enough to visit during the Christmas period it is even more spectacular.
Another family show where the children get to join in is the Pirates dinner show. This is situated just off International drive and is quite easy to find.
The whole scene is set round a huge boat with water surrounding it and lots of fun and games for the children to join in, the pirates singing all the usual yo ho ho songs and walking the plank ! while you are eating a delicious 3 course meal. Like most of the Dinner shows you are encouraged to have friendly rivalry between the different sides where much cheering and booing goes on until eventually a winning side emerges amidst even more cheering and booing.
Another show more for the adults is the Sleuths Dinner show , this is found also off International drive near the Mercado. This is a two and a half hour show , with great food and if you like murder and mysteries and like to work out “ who done it “ this is the show for you. This one is certainly a good laugh in fact we laughed until we ached. There are a total of 20 different shows so even if you go back several times you will see a different show each time.
If you and your family like the horse themed ones there is also the Arabian Nights, this is a lovely show with absolutely beautiful horses performing, There is the magnificent black stallion for the prince and a beautiful white one for the princess, the story is lovely and you can be sure of a happy ending !
Another is the Medieval banquet, we have these here in the UK but typical of most things in Florida the atmosphere is electric and the whole show is marvellously put on with the rivalry between the sides and allowing everyone to join in. Like the others you enjoy a 3 course meal while watching , you even have to use your fingers like they did in medieval times.
