Pets Ahoy at SeaWorld

Florida Guide > Sea World

If you thought that the only animal shows you would be watching at SeaWorld were all involving water and whales, dolphin and sharks you would be very much mistaken. Tucked away in the middle of the park is a very different kind of show with performances including household pets, farm animals and even some tame wildlife.

Pets Ahoy is a hugely entertaining, live show featuring a variety of animals that you really should not miss. The performances take place in the SeaWorld Theatre several times a day but make sure you arrive as early as possible as the seats do fill up very quickly once the doors have opened. Nearly all of the animals that perform in the show have been rescued from animal shelters. More than a hundred animals take part including cats, dogs, ducks, birds, a rat, a skunk and even a pot bellied pig,

The stage is set up to look like a seaside town and for twenty-five minutes you will be entertained by the antics of these animals during a series of amusing and incredible sketches. Some of the stunts are really complicated whilst others are just down right hilarious! The amazing thing is that a lot of the stunts are performed without the intervention of the trainers.

It all begins with a rat running across the stage, followed by a cat and then a dog. Everything is co-ordinated down to the last detail with sound effects and music. The cats jump from roof-top to roof-top, in an out of windows and along tightropes whilst the dogs are able to open doors at the drop of a hat. One dog telephones his girlfriend to invite her out on a date, brings her flowers and the next minute they are driving across the stage, in a car, heading for their honeymoon. Skipping dogs, dogs lifting weights and even stealing their trainer’s lunch are all part of this hilarious show.

World class animal trainer Joel Slaven (trainer from the film “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective”) is the creator of the show and has done an incredible job with the animals

After the performance make sure you go down to the front of the stage where everyone can have the opportunity to meet some of the animals and their trainers.

If it’s a hot day outside in the park you will welcome the air-conditioned theatre and a chance to cool off whilst watching the amazing animal antics in this unforgettable show. I guarantee that once you have seen it you will definitely want to visit again!
